From the experienced potter looking for a group dynamic to the beginner inspired by pottery throw down. Join us on this course which provides practical advice given on a range of throwing, hand building and glazing techniques with both one to one tuition and group demonstrations. There will be 10 workshops each lasting 2 hours.
To ensure the safety in what we use for everyone in the Studio and what we fire safely in our kilns only materials supplied by Wensum Lodge are to be used and fired in the Studio.
Your Tutor will be Andrea Young, her interests first began at Wensum Lodge where she signed up for pottery workshops, and loved it so much that she worked towards gaining a City and Guilds, level 3, in Design for Craft Ceramics. After 5 years at Wensum Lodge, she went on to full time studies for Creative Design Technologies, in North Wales, and following that studied for a further year in 3D Design on her return. She currently works from a small studio set up at home, exhibiting locally, usually within Norfolk and Suffolk. Her main love is for the potter's wheel, and for functional pottery. She has an electric kiln, but enjoys other processes of firing pottery: Raku gives her an opportunity to try something experimental; the results for raku are decorative as opposed to being functional. Also, she likes to participate in wood firing whenever I get the chance.
More than 14 years later, she is working at Wensum Lodge as a tutor for the pottery workshops, and also as one of the technicians.
