From the Hardwick roundabout head into King's Lynn town centre, past Tesco on the left over the bridge at the next rounabout take the 2nd exit into Wisbech Road. Continue along into Saddlebow Road then turn left into St Michael's Road. Follow the road round to the right and South Lynn Community Centre entrance is on the right.

Course Description

You will learn about growth and development, practical health and safety, respecting children and craft activities for young children and cover everything you need to achieve the CACHE Level 1 award Caring for Children. Ideal for anyone interested in working and caring for young children.

What will you learn?

You will work towards gaining the Level 1 Award for Caring for Children. You will gain this through learning about different aspects of caring for a child.
You will study the following units:
* Respecting and valuing children
* Growth and development of young children
* Practical health and safety when working with young children
* Craft activities for young children

In the class you will take part in class discussions, complete worksheets and take part in practical activities. A highlight of this course is taking part in craft activities suitable for young children

How will the course be taught?

This course is taught over seven weeks.
You will be taught in small groups with friendly and supportive tutors who make sure your experience with us is both stimulating and enjoyable. Extra support with your learning, should you need it, is always available.
Learners will take part in a variety of practical activities, discussions and other learning experiences.
You will develop a folder of work (portfolio) that shows what you have learned on your course.
There may be a small amount of work you need to do at home between classes.

What can I do next?

You could progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young People Workforce (Childcare intermediate). Throughout the programme learners will be given information, advice and guidance to help with progression to Level 2.

What do I need to bring?

You are requested to bring a notepad and pen. Please also bring a cold drink.

Are there any additional costs?

You will not need to buy a text book for this course.

How much does the course cost?

This course is FREE to anyone who earns less than £15,736 a year and has lived in the UK/EU/EEA for 3 years before the start of the course. If you do not meet these criteria you will need to pay the full fees for this course.
