This is a nationally recognised Level 2 Certificate Children and Young Peoples' qualification for Pre-school/Nursery Assistants in a variety of settings. This course is delivered over the period of 21 weeks
Learners will gain knowledge and develop practice in working with children including communication, equality and diversity, personal development, child development, health and safety and child protection.
You must have an established paid or voluntary role within a nursery or playgroup of 6 hour per week and at least a half terms experience. You must have agreed with the staff in the setting that they are willing to mentor you through the qualification. Because a placement in an appropriate setting is an integral part of this course, you will be required to produce evidence of a full and current Disclosure and Barring Service check. Please consult your setting for further guidance on this.
You are requested to bring a notebook and pen
All of the fees we charge are based on the level of government subsidy we get for you as a learner. We get these subsidies from the Education & Skills Funding Agency, a central government agency that is responsible for funding schools as well as adult learning. The level of subsidy we get is based on a combination of the type and the level of course that it is and your personal situation (how long you have lived in the EU for, your age and employment status, etc.). Some courses are fully subsidised so you do not have to pay anything, others are partly subsidised and some have no government subsidy whatsoever so are funded entirely from your course fees.
Don't worry if you are in any doubt as to how much you will need to pay as we will invite you to an information session before the course begins. At this session we will discuss all aspects of the course with you including fees.
You will receive a City and Guilds L2 Certificate Children and Young people's Workforce
All of the courses that we run and are available for you to apply for are advertised on our website: https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/education-and-learning/adult-learning/courses
