Course Description

This level 3 course is delivered a period of eighteen months by a series of workshops. The workshop contents and dates will be discussed at the information, advice and guidance session. There is normally an Ecordia (e-portfolio) session and four further workshops to cover the City and Guilds mandatory assignments.

What will you learn?

On this course you will learn the following:
* Developing effective study skills
* Promote partnership working with children
* Model, promote and support positive behaviour in children
* Principles of safeguarding principles and procedures working with children
* Promoting diversity, equality and diversity in early years settings
* Working with colleagues and professionals in early years settings
* Planning and implementing activities in early years settings
* Promoting children's health and safety in early years settings
* Promote children's speech, language and communication development
* Support organisational requirements for recording and storing information
* Support children's creative and imaginative play and experiences
* Support children experiencing transitions and significant life events
* Continuous professional development including reflective practice
* Theories which underpin practice in the early years sector
* Child development from conception to 7 years old
* Observation and assessment in the early years sector

How will the course be taught?

The course is taught over the period of eighteen months, most of the learning will take place online in the comfort of your own home, with the support of a tutor and assessor and will include 5 classroom based workshops.

We will support and guide you over the over the course and you will develop a portfolio of work including:
Assignments and reflective accounts covering theory and knowledge and your practice
Observations of your work in your setting as a Pre-school/Nursery Assistant.
A variety of teaching methods will be used throughout the course such as lectures, demonstrations, discussions and activities.

Before you book...

Before attending this course, you will need to attend an information and assessment session.
You will need to have a year's experience working at least 10 hours per week and in a Keyworker role and completed a level 2 childcare course.
Learners should have a Functional Skill L2 in English and maths or equivalent we can discuss this with you at your information session
A full and current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. Please consult your setting for further guidance on this.
