From the City Centre, near the Castle, turn along Rouen Road and turn left into King Street. From the Norwich City Football Club ground, heading away from the ground/retail parks, take the first turning on your right immediately after the river bridge, then turn right again into King Street.

Course Description

You will develop useable skills that can boost your CV, improve your chances of finding work, help you get a promotion, budgeting your money and even support your child with their homework. You will work in a friendly and relaxed group and learn how to apply maths to a variety of everyday situations. Your tutor will ensure that you have opportunities to try a variety of fun maths based activities in class and they will also encourage you to use some appropriate websites to boost your skills and confidence. This course is designed for those who would like to gain a maths Functional Skills qualification. This is appropriate for anyone who does not have a Level 2 qualification in Maths (O Level Maths or GCSE grade C and above). Unless otherwise stated you will need to attend class on two sessions per week. This is a free course.

Adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying
Using a calculator
Fractions
Decimals
Percentages
Metric measurements
Area, perimeter and volume
Averages
Problem solving

Is this course right for me?

You need to be able to read and write at primary school level and also have some computer skills before embarking on this course. If English is not your first language then you need to complete level 2 or IELTS 6.5 before enrolling on this course.

What do I need to bring?

You only need to bring; pens, pencils, highlighter pens, paper, a ruler and a folder with you

You may need a text book, if you do you will be advised by your tutor, so do not purchase before your course starts. If you do need one help may be available if you are on a low income.

Tutors will provide other items for you to borrow during the class

This course is FREE.

What qualification will I receive?

So that we can help you achieve what you want, you'll complete initial assessments which will help us understand what maths you need help with.

By the end of the course you will be a more confident user of maths skills and will have gained a maths qualification in Functional Skills.

What can I study next?

This course is a good basis for progressing to the next level for you in Functional Skills courses and GCSEs.

You can progress each term, until you've completed the Level 2 in maths.

The easiest route for you to apply for a course is online. If this is your first time applying then you need to set up an account, otherwise you can simply log in using your email address or learner reference number and your password.

For Leisurestream and Community Learning courses you can enrol yourself directly onto the course and make your payment using a debit or credit card.

For our English and maths courses you can enrol yourself online onto the course and no payment is required as these are generally free. Once you have enrolled onto the course the tutor will be in touch with you to discuss the course and to give you the joining instructions.

For qualification courses you can apply online and we will invite you to attend a pre-course information session. At this session one of our tutors will discuss the course with you and make sure that it is exactly what you are expecting and make sure that you will get the outcome you want.
