Directions to venue

From the City Centre, near the Castle, turn along Rouen Road and turn left into King Street. From the Norwich City Football Club ground, heading away from the ground/retail parks, take the first turning on your right immediately after the river bridge, then turn right again into King Street.

Course Description

During this two hour workshop you will have the opportunity to draw and paint plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables using the painting style of your choice in the medium of water based paints. The class will take place in a the Riverside Art Studio at Wensum Lodge, students will be encouraged to discuss freely and observe the work of their fellow learners.

What will I learn?

The session will start with a short demonstration by the Tutor. During the session topics to be covered will be materials, colour-mixing and drawing, painting techniques and also presentation. Working at your own pace you will recieve guidance and support from the Tutor, Toni Hayden.

Before you book

This is a mixed ability session, no experience is necessary and beginners are welcome. You will be encouraged to take a 15 minute refreshment break which can be taken at any time during the session. Please provide your own refreshments.

What you will need

Please bring any water-based materials that you already have. If you haven’t any, you can use the tutor’s paints for free. Easels and boards are available for use in the studio. Watercolour paper costs £1 for an A3 sheet, usable both sides.

How much does this course cost?

All of our Leisurestream courses are run purely on the fees that you as a learner pay as there are no government subsidies. Unfortunately this does mean that there are no concessions available so the full fee is applicable to everyone.

What qualification will I receive?

There are no formal qualifications offered with this course.

You may wish to continue on your current LeisureStream course and, subject to availability, you are welcome to do so. Alternatively, you may be interested in progressing onto a government-subsidised course or qualification. We recommend that you speak to your tutor or look on our website for further opportunities.

Additional support?

Financial support is not available for learners attending LeisureStream courses. If you feel that you need a course where support is available, we run a wide range of government supported courses that would be more suitable. For further information all of these courses are available on our website https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/education-and-learning/adult-learning If you have a learning difficulty, a disability or another reason for needing extra support in the classroom, we may be able to arrange support for you throughout your course. On LeisureStream courses, the cost of extra support in class is £11 per hour, and this would be paid for by the individual learner or shared between a group of learners requiring support in a class.
